Carol Nawina Nyirenda serves as a Board Member representing the Communities Delegation to Unitaid. She brings extensive experience in advocacy for people living with HIV, TB, and Malaria.
Based in Zambia and affiliated with CITAM+, she has been a dedicated advocate for intellectual property rights and community engagement in health policy since joining the board in April 2016.
For over two decades Wim Vandevelde has been committed to full time action on HIV, Hepatitis and TB treatment advocacy and community engagement in research. Member of the EATG since 2001, he served as its Chairman from 2007-2009.
He co-founded the Portuguese HIV treatment group, GAT, in 2001 and has served on the Steering Committee of AIDS Action Europe. Since 2015, Wim is the Liaison Officer hosted by GNP+ and based in Cape Town, South Africa, supporting the Communities Delegation to the Unitaid Board.
Louis da Gama serves as a Key Advisor to the Communities Delegation, bringing specialized expertise in malaria advocacy and community engagement. He has been instrumental in shaping policy and strategy since joining in April 2016.
Affiliated with the Princess of Africa Foundation, Louis focuses on malaria prevention and treatment access, working to ensure community voices are heard in global health decision-making processes.
Maurine Murenga serves as a Key Advisor with specialized focus on TB, TB/HIV co-infections, and pediatric care. She joined the leadership team in April 2020, bringing valuable expertise from the Lean on Me Foundation.
Her work centers on improving treatment access and care for vulnerable populations, particularly children affected by TB and HIV, ensuring that community perspectives inform policy and program development.
Kenly Sikwese has served as a Key Advisor since April 2016, bringing extensive experience in advocacy for people living with HIV. He is affiliated with AFROCAB and has been a long-standing voice for community rights and treatment access.
His leadership focuses on ensuring that the lived experiences of people living with HIV inform policy decisions and program implementation across the African continent and beyond.
Abdul-Fatawu Salifu serves as an Alternate Board Member representing the Communities Delegation to Unitaid. He brings comprehensive expertise in advocacy for people living with HIV, malaria, TB, and non-communicable diseases.
Based in Ghana and affiliated with the Ghana Network of Persons Living with HIV, he has been a dedicated advocate for community rights and treatment access since joining the board in September 2021.
